Adult Karate
These classes are open to students aged 12 and above. Whether your goal is to improve fitness, build confidence, or pursue mastery in Wado-Kai Karate, you’ll find a welcoming and motivating community waiting for you. Our Adult Karate Classes focus on the traditional Wado-Kai Karate, emphasising strong foundations before progressing to more advanced technical applications. Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to training, these sessions are designed to challenge you both physically and mentally while deepening your understanding of this respected martial art. You’ll learn: Kihon – Fundamental techniques including stances, punches, and kicks Kata – Structured sequences of movement that develop balance, power, and precision Kihon Kumite – Partner drills to apply core techniques in a controlled setting Kumite – Sparring and fight drills that bring your training to life

Fight Class
For Kids & Adults Competition Sparring, Pad Work & Fight Drills ​Our Kumite Classes are designed for anyone looking to improve and apply their sparring skills in a controlled, safe, and motivating environment. Whether you’re an experienced competitor, an aspiring athlete, or simply looking to get fitter, faster, and sharper, this class has something for you. Each session focuses on competition-style sparring, pad work, and technical fight drills that enhance timing, movement, and control. You’ll build confidence, improve fitness, and develop a true understanding of effective combat strategy. Kumite has been a passion of Alex sensei's since he first competed at the age of 14. Since then, he has proudly represented England in numerous national and international events, most recently earning a silver medal at the World Championships in Sweden. Our Kumite classes combine modern training methods with real competition experience — creating sessions that are challenging, energetic, and fun.

Gradings
Progress is a key part of your karate journey. Our students have the opportunity to grade regularly — every few months when their Sensei feels they’re ready. Each belt earned is officially recognised by the Japan Karate Federation (JKF), with Sugiura Rensei UK proudly affiliated to JKF Headquarters in Japan. Every step forward represents real achievement, recognised around the world.

Grading fees at £20 for kids, £25 for adults per grading (including belt if grading is achieved)
Annual License & Registration
Annual License
£25 is due yearly for your membership and license. This is due on the anniversary of your joining.
