At our school clubs, parents simply pay for their sessions and children can wear their PE kit — we do not make it compulsory to buy uniforms or take gradings. However we do recommend children practice in a dogi as wearing a dogi supports the correct training mindset and helps students practise more effectively.

We also know many children enjoy working towards belts and achieving new goals. For those who would like to take part in gradings, here’s what you need to know:

Upcoming Gradings

  • Sunday 27th September at Burridge Village Hall. Timings to be confirmed.

  • Sunday 13th December. Location and timings to be confirmed.

Cost - £20 per child. This includes the first hour training covering the grading syllabus, the grading and belt if it's awarded. To be paid on the day.

What is required to grade :

1. A Karate Uniform (Dogi)
Students should wear a plain white karate uniform.

  • We offer these for £16

  • You’re also welcome to buy your own, as long as it is plain white

If you’d like us to provide one, just send us a message and we’ll bring it along to your child’s school club.

2. Annual Licence & Registration
All students who grade must be registered.

  • This costs £25 per year and can be paid below

  • Registration is with the Japan Karate Federation

  • This ensures gradings are internationally recognised & training meets high quality standards. This means your child’s grade is more than just an in-club award — it’s officially recognised.
